Bing Webmaster Tools
What are Bing Webmaster Tools?
Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft’s free service for monitoring how a website performs in Bing Search. Like Google Search Console, it reports the queries and pages that earn impressions and clicks, lets you submit sitemaps and URLs, shows crawl and indexing problems, and lists backlinks Bing has found to your site.
You can verify a site with an XML file, a meta tag, a DNS record, or by importing it directly from Google Search Console, which is the quickest route. Beyond search performance, it includes URL Inspection, a Site Scan crawler, a keyword research tool, a backlinks report and support for IndexNow, the protocol for telling search engines a URL has changed. In 2026 Bing added an AI Performance report, in preview, showing how often your pages are cited in Copilot and Bing’s AI answers.
Why Bing Webmaster Tools matter for SEO
Bing’s index matters beyond Bing.com. Microsoft Copilot draws on Bing, and other search and AI products have licensed Bing results. If Bing cannot crawl or index a page, you can be missing from more places than one search engine. See Bing SEO for how ranking differs.
It is also a second opinion on your site. Bing’s crawl reports and backlink data sometimes catch issues that Search Console does not surface, and it is free.
How to add a site to Bing Webmaster Tools
- Sign in at bing.com/webmasters with a Microsoft, Google or Facebook account.
- Choose Import from Google Search Console to bring in your verified sites and sitemaps in one step, or add a site manually and verify it.
- Check that your sitemap is listed under Sitemaps and has been processed.
- Set up IndexNow on your site or CMS so new and changed URLs are submitted automatically.
- Review Search Performance and Site Scan after a few days.
Bing Webmaster Tools FAQ
Do I need Bing Webmaster Tools if I use Search Console?
It is worth the five minutes. It is the only way to see Bing’s own data on your site, it supports IndexNow, and Bing’s index feeds Copilot and other services.
Can I import my site from Google Search Console?
Yes. Bing Webmaster Tools can import verified sites and their sitemaps from Search Console, so you do not need to verify each one again.
